Ofsted Report

Studley Infants' School - It's a fantastic school and that's official

"A good school determined to become outstanding..." is the official verdict of Ofsted about Studley Community Infants' School.

The school has been praised in a recent Ofsted report for its expert, close knit team of governors, senior management, teachers and teaching assistants, led by the inspiring vision of their innovative and creative head teacher.

The report highlighted that teaching and learning is consistently good across the school with outstanding support for children with special educational needs. Lessons were found to have "clear objectives and are challenging and pacy." Behaviour is well managed, the children are keen and eager to learn, collaborate well and take care in their work.

Debbie Price, head teacher said "we were thrilled to have our creative curriculum recognised and teamwork between all our school community, including parents, highly praised. It was reassuring to be told that our present priorities for improvement are the correct ones. Our recently completed Early Years accommodation was seen as outstanding."

Gordon Marshall, Chair of Governors, is delighted that the inspectors commended 'the total commitment of the staff' and the 'very caring ethos of the school'. He said "Ofsted recognised that our children become confident and caring young people with a good range of skills which will help them succeed in the future. They contribute to making our school an exciting and beautiful place."

Charging

Following the policy outlined in the ERA there will be no obligation for a parent to contribute to any activity organised by the school; we will therefore ask for voluntary contributions to cover the cost, with possible subsidies from School Fund. However, it will be necessary to have substantial support for an event to take place.

The one exception to this is swimming in Year 2, where the charge is approximately £1.50 per session.

Voluntary School Fund

The Governors have introduced a voluntary school fund of £1.00 per half term (£6.00 for the year) payable in the first week back after our holiday. The fund is used to pay for the many extras i.e. cooking ingredients, calendar tabs etc.

Meals

Cooked Meals

Hot meals are available every day. They are supplied from St Mary's R C Primary School in the village and are served from our school kitchen in the hall. Please send money each Monday in the dinner envelopes provided by school. If your child is absent cash is not returned but carried forward to the day of the child's return.

Free Meals

If you are on Income Support you are entitled to free school meals, forms are available from Karen Crowe in the school office.

Sandwiches

If parents prefer, children may bring a packed lunch in a safe container. These should be placed on the trolleys provided under the veranda by the main school entrance at the beginning of each day. The trolleys are stored in the school kitchen until required and the dinner supervisors ensure your child has the correct packed lunch.

At the end of the school day the trolleys are placed under the veranda ready for the lunchboxes to be collected.

No glass bottles must be brought into school, all drinks must be in either safety flasks or sealed cardboard containers. We also ask for still drinks only as fizzy drinks can be explosive!

Children are provided with a free piece of fruit daily through the National Fruit Scheme. Milk is also available but must be paid for in advance.

Water coolers are available in every class for children to help themselves to water whenever they are thirsty.
