Summer 2

Summer arrived and Year 2 began working on their art skills ready for their big art exhibition!

We learnt and improved a range of skills including drawing, painting, sculpting, printing, digital art and collage!

We chose the theme 'When Space Meets the Sea' and took part in the Studley Art Trail set up by The Artists Workhouse.

First we practised using different tools and techniques to create new effects and experimented using a mix of colours!

Finally we were ready to create our Space pictures! We needed to draw large planets ready to paint them in bright colours.

Finally are pictures were ready to be embellished using pastels.

Next we used our sculpting skills to make a clay Space tile and experimented with a range of tools to create lines and patterns.

We made clay models using our newly learnt skills.

After this we designed our own tiles and printed our design onto bags. We also explored different shades of blue to create an underwater picture. We manipulated different materials to make our pictures come to life!

Our final piece of art was done on the computers. We learnt how to use tools such as the brush, pencil, fill bucket, spray can and shape maker.

All of the children worked so hard on their pieces of art. We had such a successful exhibition with the children enjoying their work being showcased.

We ended the year with a fantastic performance of 'The Moon Thieves'

Thank you for all of your support during your child's time at Studley Infants' School and we hope the children enjoy their journey into Junior School.
