We have started the new school year by welcoming 2 new children to the Harbour. Much of our work has been around routines, feeling safe and secure, and communicating with each other using a variety of strategies.
Bonkers about Conkers!
We have really enjoyed exploring our natural environment looking for signs of Autumn. Our Forest School sessions have revolved around noticing changes. We have had lots of fun with conkers; counting them, rolling them in paint, following instructions to make conker cake, and making repeating patterns with them.
Making bread is such a great activity, it’s messy, it smells lovely and it tastes good! We all made bread hedgehogs in the Harbour. We also did some mark-making with forks and car tracks, to make spiky hedgehog art.
As well as learning Harvest songs with our year groups, we have learned about the jobs farmers do at this time of year. We ploughed our own fields (playdough) with tractors, and harvested crops. We enjoyed hearing the Julia Donaldson story The Scarecrows’ Wedding and made our own scarecrow faces.
