Spring 2

What another busy half-term we have had!  We celebrated World Book Day at the beginning of March by wearing our pyjamas.  We did lots of fun book-related activities and read lots of stories!  Don't we look cosy reading our books together?

In Numeracy this half-term, we have been learning about different measurements.  We have measured length and weight using centimetres, weight and mass, volume and capacity and have even started learning to tell the time.  Ask us to tell you a time to the hour or half-hour!  We enjoyed finding things in the classroom to measure with a ruler and compared objects to the height of ourselves.  It was tricky to find something that was the same size as us!

In Literacy, we started the half-term by reading our class book, 'Where the Wild Things Are' and we wrote some character descriptions, comparing Max to one of the Wild Things.

Then we read Paddington's Post and we were so interested to know why Paddington loves marmalade sandwiches so much!  So this inspired us to make and taste our own.  We made some sandwiches and then wrote the instructions for how we made them so that somebody else could copy us!

In Science, we have been learning about plants.  We have learned the names for the different parts of a plant and planted our own beans which we have been closely observing as they grow!  We then used some real twigs, leaves and other natural materials to make our own pictures showing the different parts of a plant.

In April, we had another International Day!  This time, we celebrated Mexico! We wore the colours of the Mexican flag to school.  We made some rice shakers and even developed our cutting skills by making and tasting our very own salsa!
