What a weird and wonderful half term!
To celebrate all of the children returning to school we delayed World Book Day until we could all be together! Everyone enjoyed dressing up as their favourite character from a story. We shared stories with each other, made bookmarks and played lots of games!
This half term we enjoyed reading our first class chapter book - Fantastic Mr. Fox by Roald Dahl. We looked carefully at the characters and the descriptive language in the book before writing our own setting descriptions for Mr. Fox's big feast at the end.
In Numeracy, we have worked hard identifying both 2D and 3D shapes and learning all about their properties! We practised building the shapes to secure our understanding of edges and faces and even took our maths learning outside with the parachute!
In P.E we have been playing team games and working on our co-ordination skills. We have practised our skipping skills and it has been fantastic to see lots of children show such great perseverance when at first finding it quite tricky. Well done everyone!
Towards the end of the half term we have been lucky enough to have glorious sunshine! In Forest School we have been learning all out Spring! We have learnt the signs of Spring and enjoyed looking out for them. Everyone practised their drawing skills and completed their own observational drawings of the flowers, buds, trees and butterflies. We also practised our ICT skills and used the iPads to take close up photos of the things we found.
You may have spotted our fabulous Art skills on the Easter Cards!
In Art we have practised creating tints and tones using paint and then used these skills to create fantastic Easter Cards for our families. We learnt how to do long and short strokes with the paintbrush and how to mix colours to create the shades we wanted.
